Asphalt Sealing
Asphalt sealing your driveway or parking lot will help protect it from extreme weather conditions and everyday wear and tear. J & D’s Seal Tech provides professional asphalt sealing for homeowners and commercial properties all throughout Niagara Falls, NY, Buffalo, NY and the surrounding Western New York area.
Your asphalt surfaces should be sealed once a year to help prevent them from eroding and cracking. Having this done annually will preserve the surface and extend the life of your driveway or parking lot. Contact our team today to learn more about how our asphalt sealing can prevent necessary asphalt crack repair and paving in the future.
While the terminology is often used interchangeably, asphalt and blacktop are quite different despite sharing the same materials. Our paving contractors can install, repair, and maintain both types, but outlined below are the key differences between the two.
How They Are Mixed - Both asphalt and blacktop are made from bitumen and crushed stone, however, asphalt is mixed at a much higher temperature (250 degrees) making it malleable to pour onto roadways. Blacktop has a different bitumen and crushed stone ratio (incorporating more stone) and needs to be heated to at least 300 degrees to work effectively. Due to this and the difference in ratios, blacktop can last longer than asphalt.
What They Are Used For - Asphalt is more versatile than blacktop as it can be used for more than just roadways. It is often used for pool linings, cable coatings, soundproofing, and more. Unlike blacktop, asphalt has built-in water resistance. Blacktop is the go-to source for everyday paving jobs because it is easy to repair and has a long lifespan. The aesthetic of blacktop is also more pleasing to the eye. Just imagine a fresh basketball court with blacktop or asphalt--the blacktop would look better every time.
Both blacktop and asphalt are safe, durable, and popular paving methods that are used for a variety of jobs with our paving company. While each material is durable, blacktop is more malleable, and asphalt is the more versatile material. Their similarities make them both great paving choices, but their differences truly set them apart and usually provide a clear answer as to which is right for your paving project. J & D's Seal Tech will help you navigate through the entire blacktop sealing or asphalt paving process.
Our paving contractors will carefully clean all affected areas with a push broom before beginning paving to ensure that the surface is completely clean and ready for the sealcoat. Once we finish sealcoating, you will need to stay off the surface for 48 hours to allow time for it to dry. For quality, affordable asphalt sealing and paving throughout
